FAQ for Methylene Chloride Soak Tester

Methylene Chloride Soak Tester is a Common test equipment for PVC pipes. It accords to  ISO 9852.
The method is based on various national and international standards, where the specified test temperature and duration determine the resistance of unplasticized PVC pipes against dichloromethane.

In this test, a piece of PVC-U pipe of specified length-chamfered at one end to an angle dependent on its thickness-
is immersed for a fixed period of time in a thermo-controlled dichloromethane bath to verify that the PVC-U is not attacked at the specified temperature.

After immersion, the test pieces are air-dried and examined to observe whether any attack on the PVC has occurred.

we sold some sets Methylene Chloride Bath to overseas customers from last years, and when customer talked with me for details of the testers, they submit some questions, today, I summarized the questions and list them, hope it can help you when you considering ordering this tester

1. What is the inside tank material? ( 304# stainless steel)

2.When running the test, is water mixed with methylene chloride together?(NO,The density of dichloromethane solution and

   water is different, so they will separate into layers, with dichloromethane at the bottom and the water seal layer at the top.
3.Can methylene chloride it be used only once or reused for the next test?(yes ,methylene chloride can be reused)

4. For water and methylene chloride, how many times can they be reused? (They can be used repeatedly, but some of the

   solution and water will evaporate after long-term use, so just replenish it in time when it is less. But it should be noted: if the device is not used for         long time, please drain the solution in the device.)

5. For one test, can we place only one specimen? What is the specimen length?(In ISO9852, sample length request 160mm, in

   China standard, it request 100mm, you can place more specimen, but also depands on sample size)

6. For one test, can we place only one specimen, or can we test multiple specimens at once? (you can multiple specimens at once

   upon the chamber volume)

7. What is the expected lifetime of the machine? (Because this device has very few electrical components and is mostly mechanical,

    it has a very long lifespan with normal use. We have sold many of these devices and have rarely received any reports of damage.some customer 

    has been using it for ten years. Oh, the press bottons maybe broken after long use, we can give you some for free togehter with the tester. and 

   engineer notice me if customer really very worry about it, we can supply you 1 extra relay, no worry then~)

8. What is the duration of the sample analysis?(The sample needs to be immersed in dichloromethane solution for 30 minutes.)

9. What is the form of the test result output? Is it possible to connect the system to a PC?(This test is simple. According to the

    standard requirements, the sample only needs to be immersed and then visually inspected. Therefore, there's no testing software or computer 

    connection.)

10.I also need an estimate of how many test cycles (not only the volume) the water and methylene chloride can be reused - this

     will help us calculate the consumable parts.(Because dichloromethane solution corrodes and depletes the sample, we cannot define its usability by       an absolute number of reuses. The solution simply needs to be replenished promptly after consumption. If used frequently, 20L is sufficient for 6          months. However, relevant standards stipulate that dichloromethane must be stored at 10°C after opening and expires after 6 months. If you the 

    equipment was rarely used, 12 liters should be enough for six months.)

11. How many years of spare part support are available? ( minimum 10 years,our factoty is begining from year of 1999,please

      take easy for after sales service)

12. what's the packing size and gross weight for the tester?(820*820*1530mm,150Kg)
